Seated Pulldown with Underhand Technique

  1. Sit down on the pulldown machine and adjust the knee pad so it is comfortable.

  2. Grab the lat bar with an underhand, shoulder-width grip (palms facing up towards ceiling).

  3. Sit with torso upright and eyes looking straight ahead. Engage your core by pulling your shoulders down and back.

  4. With control, pull the bar down until it touches your upper chest below your collarbone. Focus on squeezing your shoulder blades together at the bottom.

  5. Pause briefly then slowly raise the bar back up to starting position when your arms are straight. Breathe out as you pull down and breathe in as you return to starting position.

  6. Avoid swinging your torso for momentum. Keep your elbows pointed down to the floor to isolate the back muscles rather than arms doing the work.
