Step Up + Lunge Down
Stand facing a step or bench. Place your right foot firmly on the step.
Push through your right heel to step up onto the step, bringing your left foot up to meet your right. Avoid pushing off your left toe. Keep your torso upright.
Once both feet are on the step, step your right leg back down to the floor and go into a lunge position. Your left foot should stay on the step.
Push through your right heel to step back up onto the step while keeping your torso upright.
Alternate legs, stepping down into a lunge with your left leg then stepping back up onto the step with your left foot.
Move in a controlled manner, avoiding letting your front knee cave in as you lunge down.
Keep your abdominal muscles engaged throughout the movement.
For added challenge, hold dumbbells in each hand at your sides as you perform the exercise.
