Calf Raise Seated with Machine (90 degree)

  1. Adjust the calf raise machine by sitting down and placing your thighs under the leg pads. The bottom of the pads should rest just above your knees.

  2. Place the balls of your feet on the calf block with your heels extending off. Point your toes straight forward.

  3. Straighten your legs so they are not locked, but nearly straight. This will be your starting position.

  4. Inhale slowly as you allow your heels to lower as far as is comfortable. This is your stretched position. Avoid letting your heels drop too far below parallel to the floor.

  5. Exhale and use your calf muscles to lift your heels as high as possible, maximizing contraction in your calves. Focus on using your calves rather than momentum to lift the weight.

  6. Hold the contracted position for a brief pause at the top.

  7. Slowly lower your heels back down toward the starting position in a controlled motion. Do not let gravity drop them down.

  8. Repeat for the desired number of reps or until muscle fatigue prevents you from performing another proper, controlled rep.
